Spiral (originals)-By Allison crowe

Published by 1Aalcoholic under , , , , on 6/24/2011

Album description
Spiral contains these eight new songs from Allison Crowe, ranging from the tender and playful country/roots of “Dearly”, to the upbeat pop of “Double-Edged Swords”, ’cross the loving “Oceans”, and darker terrain of “I Don’t Know” and the hard rocking title track. Raw, natural, emotion is embraced passionately with elegiac beauty and melody in these, and such joy-filled tunes as “Going Home Tonight” and “No Matter the Battle”. With the live track, “Wake Up”, Crowe, again, renders the personal universal, and the global, human.

Uniquely known not just as one of the most exciting songwriters of a new generation, Crowe is also one of our finest interpreters of popular song. Spiral’s mix of light and shadow includes a trio of fresh covers – revisiting music of Annie Lennox (“Why”), Leonard Cohen (“Chelsea Hotel No. 2”), and Hunters and Collectors’ Antipodean anthem, “Throw Your Arms Around Me”. (These composers do not release under CC license, and so these three songs are not included here with Allison's originals.)

On this new song collection, the bi-coastal Canadian, (she calls Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Nanaimo, British Columbia, home), is joined by ideally-skilled and sympathetic west-coast musicians Billie Rocha-Woods (acoustic guitar, backing vocals), Dave Baird (bass, backing vocals), Laurent Boucher (percussion), Brendan Millbank (cello) and Larry Anschell (electric guitar, and, also, Engineer/Producer at Turtle Studios in White Rock, B.C.)

Kayla Schmah, Los Angeles-based, Canadian-born, composer and film scorer, orchestrates and produces the album with, yes, "gorgeous" musical textures, and cinematic ideas artfully brought to life. Concert capturings by Engineers B.R.N. (aka Condor) and John MacMillan complete this diverse mix of music made in Corner Brook, Nanaimo, as well as Chilliwack, White Rock, Denman Island and Salt Spring Island, Canada, Vienna, Austria, and Hollywood, USA.

The visual art of Spiral matches its aural beauty - with cover paintings by Netherlands-based Tara Thelen, photographs by Canada's Billie Rocha-Woods, and California's Dan Goldwasser, fontage from Brazil’s Billy Argel and graphic design by Florida's Alix Whitmire.

Year 2005: as a true video games addict, Dom created with a group of mates add ons, mappacks and levels for several video games ( multiplayer ones ); not very gifted in 3D programming, he was asked to do musics, and then the demand grew higher, and he started to create many melodies for games, events, and just as is...

With his computer hardware, his softwares ( abotve all Sony Acid pro ), VST Synths and real ones ( Korg ) , before dawn, when you sleep, he creates his world and his melodies in his cave...

He loves all kinda musics, but above all 3 great figures lead him and influence him: Alan PARSON, Jean Michel JARRE, and Mike OLDFIELD. As a young man in the 80's, Dom has been flourished with New Wave, Progressive Rock, HardRock that are his musical ground.

Hoping that some melodies will give you a little moment of pleasure, friendly, Dom ;)

Lyrics
his steely skin is covered by centuries of dust • once he was a great one, now he‘s dull and rust • an oily tear he‘s crying • can you feel the pain of the sad, sad robot • driving him insane • he can‘t turn back time nor history • so his life became a misery • he has to face his destiny • nobody cares anymore • sad, sad robot • sad, sad robot • he‘s a sad, sad robot • he‘s so alone • me steely skin is covered by centuries of dust • once me was a great one • but now i‘m dull and rust • an oily tear i‘m crying • can you feel me pain? i‘m the sad, sad robot • it‘s driving me insane • i can‘t turn back time nor history • so me life became a misery • i have to face me destiny • that i‘m all on me own • sad, sad robot • sad, sad robot • i‘m a sad, sad robot • i‘m so alone • red, red robot • red, red robot • i‘m a red, red robot • and so i shall return

Fox. His music, a blend of soul, pop, rhythm and blues, disco, smooth and acid jazz, has racked up over a million music downloads.Tracks from his independent debut album "Midnight Rain", have been broadcast on stations in europe, the far east and also coast to coast in the U.S.A on XM satellite radio, and worldwide on Los Angeles based DMX music. "Midnight Rain" was nominated for two independent music awards in the states (2004).Tom Fox's 2nd independent CD, a soul/smooth jazz EP entitled "Slowly" featured collaborations with mid west guitarist Maurice Johnson, uk artist Martin Williams, and the Dr Dre of soul, funk and jazz "G" Fuston. "Slowly" also achieved radio airplay from stations on both sides of the atlantic, some choosing the cd as their record of the week. Listen to a free music download of - "Wayfaring Stranger""For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?" - MATTHEW 16:26A message from Tom - ".....Much of the music I recorded in the past no longer represents who I am now.....We are living in unprecedented times. Glory be to Jesus Christ whose blood was shed for my sins.....Thanks for visiting this site and may God bless you on your journey....."

A traditional gospel song, that describes a Christian walking the narrow way with the Lord Jesus Christ. Suffering for faith is expected, however the song's protagonist looks forward to a time when persecution in this world will end and the faithful believer will be reunited with God. The song "Poor Wayfaring Stranger" is of unknown origin, however some argue it's roots are derived from the folk songs of pioneering Irish settlers, others say it sprang from the spirituals of former African slaves. The melody is haunting and a real discovery. Listen to the MP3 below and judge for yourself.

"WAYFARING STRANGER"I am a poor, wayfaring strangerWandering through this land of woeYet there's no sickness, toil or dangerIn that bright land to which I goI'm going home to meet my motherShe said she'll meet me when I comeI'm only going over JordanI'm only going over homeI'll soon be free of every trialMy body rests in the old graveyardI'll drop my cross of self denialAnd enter on my great rewardI'm going home to meet my fatherI'm going there no more to roamI'm only going over JordanI'm only going over homeI want to wear the crown of gloryWhen I get home to that good landI want to shout salvation's gloryIn concert with the blood washed bandI'm going there to meet my saviorTo sing his praise forever moreI'm only going over JordanI'm only going over homeLyrics of Poor Wayfaring Stranger are by an unknown writer.

This Little Bird - Ce Petit Oiseau (originals) -by- Allison Crowe

Published by Aalcoholic under , , , , , , , , on 3/19/2009

Album description=

"This Little Bird" contains everything to love about the music of Allison Crowe. Adding titles of engineer and producer to her vocal, piano and guitar credits, Crowe is joined on most of the album's tracks by an ideal rhythm section ~ Dave Baird (bass) and Laurent Boucher (percussion). Nine new originals map emotional and spiritual territory with fresh sounds, encompassing: the elegiac "Phoenix"; the ramble tamble "Alive and Breathing"; gorgeous songs of love and hope, "Effortless" and "There Is"; the jaunty dark humor of "Skeletons and Spirits"; the redemptive grace of "Now"; the raucous celebration of the title track; a joy of simplicity in "Circular Reasoning"; and "Silence", a song that stirs with gypsy romance.Acclaimed not only as an exciting songwriter and live performer, but, also, as a supreme song interpreter, for her freshly definitive takes, Allison Crowe delivers a trio of remarkable covers on "This Little Bird" - giving her singular voice to "A Case of You" (Joni Mitchell's knowing paen to heart and homeland), "Darling Be Home Soon" (John Sebastian's lovin' spoonful of longing) and "I Never Loved A Man (The Way I Love You)" (Ronnie Shannon's soulful song best-known as Aretha Franklin's break-out tune in 1967).You will find those three songs and more on Allison's home site @ http://www.allisoncrowe.com/ThisLittleBird.html
Enjoy! Peace.

Album description
from http://music.download.com editor's review:Sophistication and a wide artistic scope are the hallmarks of Greg Baumont’s musical portfolio. Faring equally well in downtempo trip-hop territory as he does executing a symphonic interlude, he brings something unique and fresh to the airwaves. Intriguing sample selection, curious subliminal elements, and masterfully crafted song structures will appeal instantly to fans of Source Records and F-Communication.
