Album description
Summer of 2010 in the Tuscany countryside I recorded 10 new songs in the style of Music is Love. To join me old friends, bass player Fulvio and the voice of Soma. I played on two tracks with a new tool teponaztli a drum of Aztec origin. Soundscape infinite for the infinite sky. But a bit of samba, bossa nova, songs to sing.

Rein

rein

==================================

The Rein, more an artist collective than a standard music group, are composed by Gianluca Bernardo (voice and acoustic guitar), Luca De Giuliani (electric guitar), Claudio Mancini (guitars and electric organ) e Pierluigi Toni (bass e double bass). Grew up together as a group since the end of the 90’s, the Rein experimented a new way to produce and promote music, inspired by the fundamental principle of culture sharing. This choice makes it possible for them to rely on the support of a wide audience, as well as on the attention of media and on the collaboration of numerous artists. Proud of their independence from any discographic label, they sell thousands of copies – not being covered by a classical distribution system – thanks to the word-of-mouth advertising amongst their supporters.

Having already performed hundreds of live concerts, the Rein distinguish themselves for their intense live activity, as well as for the ability to bring their music over the defined boundary of the stage.
Stepping over the line that divides artist from the audience, it may happen to see them play on the streets of all over Italy, on the tramways of Rome or in the back of an old van, in the middle of a square flooded by people, during a Carnival celebration. Acknowledged at the same time as one of the most interesting expressions of the indipendent music environment, they appear on the dates of important international festivals, next to artists such as Patty Smith, Placebo, Kraftwerk, Aphex Twin, Ska-P e Tracy Chapman.

Rein’s music is born of globalization and métissage. Deeply opened to any contamination, they move without intermission between musical universes that are poles apart, in order never to close themselves in a defined genre. Thundersrucked by the model of Mano Negra, they reinterpret it with their instruments, so the sounds of italian and slavonic popular tradition espouse upbeat rhythms, that blend in turn with english rock and punk. Further characterizing on the whole is the preciousness of Gianluca Bernardo’s lyrics, owed to the big influence of Fabrizio De Andrè and of the american folk, Bob Dylan above all.

====================

=======================

====================

Chant : Jeanne

After 5 years as leader of the famous « Flying Cheddars Lovers », a kind of « trash ballroom dancing band” specialized in covering Gregorian sacred songs, Jeanne has now decided to stop the booze !

Piano/Mélodica : Mathias
Mat’s childhood took place in a little African village in south Botswana , where he was initiated to sacred dancings and musical habits of Congalaabawanaa. He’s never been quite the same ever since.

Guitare : Tom
Tom met one day Pat Metheny after a gig in Nancy (east of France). He immediatly kicked the guy’s face to steal his guitar. In fact he never leaves it alone, even taking it under the shower, which explain the weird sounds...

Basse : Serge
After being explelled from England for setting fire to a pub where some band were playing live using a “dreaded” drum machine, he writes his first album with around 54 post punk songs, all written in 4 days.

This Little Bird - Ce Petit Oiseau (originals) -by- Allison Crowe

Published by Aalcoholic under , , , , , , , , on 3/19/2009

Album description=

"This Little Bird" contains everything to love about the music of Allison Crowe. Adding titles of engineer and producer to her vocal, piano and guitar credits, Crowe is joined on most of the album's tracks by an ideal rhythm section ~ Dave Baird (bass) and Laurent Boucher (percussion). Nine new originals map emotional and spiritual territory with fresh sounds, encompassing: the elegiac "Phoenix"; the ramble tamble "Alive and Breathing"; gorgeous songs of love and hope, "Effortless" and "There Is"; the jaunty dark humor of "Skeletons and Spirits"; the redemptive grace of "Now"; the raucous celebration of the title track; a joy of simplicity in "Circular Reasoning"; and "Silence", a song that stirs with gypsy romance.Acclaimed not only as an exciting songwriter and live performer, but, also, as a supreme song interpreter, for her freshly definitive takes, Allison Crowe delivers a trio of remarkable covers on "This Little Bird" - giving her singular voice to "A Case of You" (Joni Mitchell's knowing paen to heart and homeland), "Darling Be Home Soon" (John Sebastian's lovin' spoonful of longing) and "I Never Loved A Man (The Way I Love You)" (Ronnie Shannon's soulful song best-known as Aretha Franklin's break-out tune in 1967).You will find those three songs and more on Allison's home site @ http://www.allisoncrowe.com/ThisLittleBird.html
Enjoy! Peace.

Abscondo-Midnight Snow

Published by 1Aalcoholic under , , , on 3/13/2009

Album description=
Midnight Snow" is a deeply personal concept album, with every lyric written to fit exactly where it does in the album. The first 5 songs (which can be thought of as Side A) are "Midnight Snow", while the last 5 songs (Side B) are to be thought of as "Morning Rain".
Side A, "Midnight Snow":

Strangled Into Gray is an anthem about the struggles of everyday life. The frustrations expressed in this track provide the spark for everything that is to follow. Every note on this album was intended as a response to this daily struggle. The next 4 tracks take us to those candle-lit evenings full of intimacy, inspiration, bliss and beauty. How intense and magnificent life can be under the right influences! But what is the meaning of those moments in relation to the struggles and mundanity of yet another tomorrow in the world as it actually exists? Side B, "Morning Rain":

After the candle is blown out at the end of Track 5, the beauty symbolized by a midnight snowflake is replaced with the grayness of a rainy morning. The difference between the lightness of snow and the heaviness of rain is only a few degrees in temperature. The idea of this small change in temperature is meant to symbolize our small changes in perception. "Morning Rain" reminds us that "Midnight Snow" is not and cannot be a permanent state; that, symbolically, the next morning will come and we will have to deal with its unpleasant and harsh realities. Track 10, "Sentiment", closes the album with the idea that perhaps what matters is not life's peaks or valleys, but the contentedness of a life well-lived with that one special person who is worthy of spending one's entire life with.

In recording and releasing the album, I didn't look for any help from a record company because I didn't want it and didn't need it. I wanted to create something truly non-commercial and unfiltered. I have decided that I didn't want money to come between my creation and your ability to enjoy it. I make money in other ways and my music is something completely different in my life. When I mix music with business, the music suffers and my bank account tends to suffer as well. I want to keep my music pure and authentic. This recording isn't perfect, but what is perfection anyway? I think that uniqueness and authenticity are more important than some notion of "perfection" and I hope the final result agrees with your sense of aesthetics.

All songs have been written by, performed by, recorded and mixed by Abscondo (C. Mark Manney). These tracks are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0, which means you can do anything you want with my music. Share it, use it in films, podcasts, even sell it if you find a way! All I ask is that you give me credit. I will also be releasing the album "properly" so it will show up in iTunes and at other on-line sources.

Live at Wood Hall (originals)- Allison Crowe

Published by Aalcoholic under , , , , , , , , on 2/04/2009

Album description
Live at Wood Hall
is an exciting journey through Allison Crowe's concert repertoire, recorded solo voice and piano - with a simple clarity in the converted chapel of Victoria (B.C.)'s Conservatory of Music. Alongside more than an album's worth of original songs of love and hope to social and political commentary, Allison covers cherished favourites - including Ani DiFranco ("Independence Day
"), Counting Crows ("A Murder of One
"), Tori Amos ("Playboy Mommy
"), Janis Joplin ("Me and Bobby McGee
"), and John Lennon ("Imagine
"). Colours in the artist's musical palette range from roots & blues, through folk, pop/rock, jazz and Broadway. There's even a tradtional Irish aire, "Believe Me If All (Those Endearing Young Charms)
", sung acapella. Once again, Larry Anschell (Turtle Studios) captures the music on tape and Alix Whitmire designs the beautiful artwork/CD cover. " 'Music, man, that's where it's at'/ it is a religious line/ outside, the chimes rung/ an they/ are still ringin."
This collection, here on Jamendo, contains the original songs of Allison Crowe captured in concert. To hear Allison's live interpretations (cover songs) please visit

window sills

Published by Aalcoholic under , , , on 2/04/2009

Album description
On more than one occasion, Tom Prilesky, one half of the Vancouver-based duo that makes up the Wind Whistles, croons and weaves words eerily like Decemberists frontman Colin Meloy. This isn't too strange, seeing as their debut album, Window Sills, is a positively folksy affair. Prilesky drops lyrics like "sail my ship to Africa", "I'll meet you out on the train", and similarly vagabond-like vocals that echo themes in many a Decemberist song. Where these folktale similarities end, Prilesky and fellow-Wind Whistle Liza Moser branch out on a risky limb, take some friends along for the ride, and hold on tight. Window Sills is a veritable jam session as the Wind Whistles invite various talents to sing along, compose and strum, resulting in a compilation of simple songs that sound like friends making music in somebody's basement. Scratch that: Friends making music in a rustic cabin, on an island, surrounded by wild deer and a wooded glen. When night falls, they all keep jamming, a melancholy ballad emerges here and there (the captivating "River"), and in the morning friendships are stronger and good prospers over evil ("Good friends won't rip you off" is so feel-good it hurts). The reality is that the disc was mixed and recorded in a local studio, but you can hear the rich fantasies behind the tunes. These are songs that tell stories-solid harmonies with a diversity that could only be achieved by having eighteen performers rally together on twelve tight tracks.Katie Nanton – Discorder Magazine Feb. 2008 issue
